A new one-day dance party, Sweet Relief! arrives in Brisbane this spring featuring exclusive appearances from UK legends Groove Armada and Aussie icons The Avalanches.
To take over Maritime Green at Northshore on 16 September, the dance floor will be heaving with a special DJ set from Groove Armada (who played Brisbane last November) as well as the spectacular live show from The Avalanches ('Since I Left You', 'Because I'm Me').New Zealand electronic artist Ladyhawke ('My Delirium', 'Paris Is Burning', 'Black White & Blue'), synthpop indietronica outfit Cut Copy (DJ set) and DJ-producer-radio host Nina Las Vegas also join the bill alongside Latifa Tee, Yo! Mafia and Poof Doof Pride Patrol feat. Jimi The Kween.
"We're so excited to be heading up to Brisbane to play at Maritime Green at Northshore Brisbane," The Avalanches says.
"It's such a cool looking spot – we've got a feeling it's gonna be a very special one."
Part of the QLD Music Trails Tourism Events series, Sweet Relief! is a collaboration with Untitled Group (Beyond The Valley, Grapevine Gathering), Brisbane Festival and Brisbane City Council.
"Brisbane's history is littered with iconic festival moments such as Livid, Boundary Street Festival and Valley Fiesta that gave the Brisbane community an opportunity to bring their weirdest and wildest selves out to create an electric atmosphere of togetherness, diversity and inclusion," Joel Edmondson, CEO of Qld Music Trails, says.
"We hope that Sweet Relief! can establish itself as a place where people travel from around the country to experience Brisbane's local flavour and global appeal."
Tickets on sale from midday (local time) on 6 July.
