Punk-reggae rockers Sweet Banana are gearing up to release their debut single, 'FFS', at their Australian Music Week showcase.
From Sydney, Sweet Banana consists of Luke Aaron (guitar/ vocals), Lachlan Hunter (drums), Cade Thomson (guitar/ vocals) and Lewis Bustin (bass).
After completing a Bachelor of Music Performance and actively playing covers in pubs, Luke and Cade yearned for a creative outlet. The two searched the Sydney music scene to eventually find Lewis and Lachlan, which ultimately lead to the formation of Sweet Banana.
Currently in the studio working on new tracks, Sweet Banana are gearing up for their debut release.
'FFS' was written by Cade before Sweet Banana was formed. “It's got a really cool sound to it and we're really keen to release it,” Lewis says.
“We liked it so much that we figured that we'd have to push it into a single [sic] because it sounds so good. We worked alongside producer Nathan Sheehy for that one. He's done work for other bands like Dune Rats. [We're] super excited to work with him and get this single out.
“We were trying to figure out how we wanted to release it. Australian Music Week has an actual point to it – you've got a good audience and people that appreciate music. It felt like a really great point to send it out.”
Sweet Banana are excited to make their debut appearance and showcase their sound at Australian Music Week. “[Australian Music Week] is something we've always wanted to play.
“We already new it was a big event to go to, so naturally we applied. We didn't think we'd get it, but we are very happy that we did.
“The boys and I were very ecstatic. We honestly didn't think we were going to get it so when they let us know that we did, we were super excited. We immediately started planning what our set list was going to be.
“We're looking forward to the fact that Australia Music Week actually brings a new crowd – people we've never played to before. I'm keen to see how the crowd will react and vibe off our music and our sound.
“For us, it's a case of being able to play not only for the audience but people in the industry as well. We just want to bring fun vibes to everyone we can.
“Through our show, we obviously want to promote our music and promote ourselves. Ultimately, we can move forward and play bigger venues and have more of an audience to play to. That would be fantastic.”
