Summer is heating up in Stonnington with the return of Sunset Sounds for not one, but two free evenings of live music – first in the stunning Victoria Gardens in Prahran followed by a concert in the leafy Central Park in Malvern East.
To showcase some of the brightest voices in local hip hop, R&B, funk and soul, Sunset Sounds (15, 22 January) also offer music lovers lush green grass, summer vibes and a selection of Melbourne's tastiest food trucks – perfect to grab a picnic rug and gather with friends and family. The first concert will feature three-time ARIA nominated singer-songwriter Mo'Ju (who won the Best Soul award at the recent Victoria Music Awards) supported by Afro-soul outfit Cool Out Sun. PBS DJ Lyndelle Wilkinson will set the mood spinning tunes from 5pm at Victoria Gardens.
"You know I love to commune with community. Well here I go again – Jan 15 @ Sunset Sounds. It's gonna be beauuuutiful. I'll be there with ol' mates Cool Out Sun," shares Mo'Ju.
The second show will feature six-time ARIA nominated veteran funk-soul act The Bamboos ('The Wilhelm Scream', 'On The Sly') joined by north Queensland (now Melbourne based) futuristic soul trio Izy. PBS DJ Ella Stoeckli will kick off the evening selecting songs from 5pm at Central Park.
Sunset Sounds Concert 1 takes place at Victoria Gardens (Prahran) 15 January. Sunset Sounds Concert 2 takes place at Central Park (Malvern East) 22 January.
