Howard launched 'Scene Magazine' in 1993. Paul Keating was Prime Minister. Whitney, Janet and Mariah all had Aussie #1s and Mark Zuckerberg was 9. Over 30 years he's overseen the growth of scenestr to become Australia's largest – and only national – street press while forging a digital-first imperative in the mid-naughties. Social media remains a complete mystery to him. He's been spotted at raves, hip hop concerts, Motown revivals, judged battle of the bands, shot video for opening night and national awards red carpet, partnered with music industry showcases, comedy festivals and myriad other cultural productions ... and he interviewed Eddie Izzard. He likes Star Trek and a good Oxford comma — way too much fun at parties.

Queensland metal band Sunk Loto have confirmed they have parted ways with their long-time lead guitarist.

The band posted a statement yesterday saying the parting occurred to protect the band from what they allege was controlling and abusive behaviour. They noted these same factors were attributed to the band's breakup sixteen years earler.

The band stated October's 'Between Birth and Death' anniversary tour would still proceed "100%" and that they had already "been fortunate enough to recruit one of the best musicians in the country to strap on the guitar as a full-time member."

Sunk Loto's public posting was in response to a statement released by McDonald (top left, main pic) the day prior. "The last few months have been really hard for me, because I have wanted to tell you that I was fired by the band through an email. Of course, I was very shocked and hurt by this, as I worked very hard to get the band back together. Because they made negotiations so difficult, in relation to money that they owe me from the last tour, I have not been able to speak out.

"Negotiations are still going on, but for the sake of my own well-being and the fans, I felt I needed to come out with this information as soon as I could. I hope you understand that I love you all as fans, and I'm sorry I won't be seeing you on this Tour," he added.
