Summer Camp Festival – More Talent Added To Line-Up Including Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Sophie Ellis-Bextor
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Summer Camp Festival is bringing together a number of unique International headliners for a multi-city LGBTQIA+ party, and the event grows even bigger.

UK pop icon Sophie Ellis-Bextor joins the proceedings, as does French DJ Kiddy Smile, party queen DJ Jodie Harsh, and French music producer and singer Coucou Chloe.

The vibes of freedom and diversity head to Sydney’s Centennial Park and Melbourne’s Velodrome.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor sold more than two million copies of her first album, and is no stranger to the stage. Following the iconic ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’, Sophie teamed up with Italian DJ Spiller, to add vocals to his track ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’, which entered the UK charts at #1. Sophie has become the club favourite for a generation, and during lockdown she created ‘Kitchen Disco’ which reached 40 million viewers. She’s itching to break out of her home and hit the Summer Camp stage.

Famous for her trademark blonde beehive and thumping club and festival sets is iconic London DJ Jodie Harsh. She’ll host a takeover of the dance tent at Summer Camp. Her beats can be heard in remixes with A-listers like Beyonce, Fergie, Cher and Justin Timberlake.

Extravagant French DJ and most recently ‘Drag Race France’ judge DJ Kiddy Smile will be an unmissable experience in his first performances in Australia. A face of the voguing and Ballroom scenes, Kiddy Smile’s performances are in a league of their own. He developed the sound identity for Balmain and has also collaborated with Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Versace and more.

London-based French music producer and singer Coucou Chloe is known for dark glamour, twisted romance, high fashion, and emotional voyeurism. She’ll bring her high energy to the Sydney and Melbourne stages.

These new names join previously announced acts like headliners Years & Years, who recently left Glastonbury in a daze after his mainstage performance last month. Plus, there’s New Orleans bounce music CEO Big Freedia (who was recently sampled on Beyonce’s newest single ‘Break My Soul’), global pop powerhouse Cub Sport, much-loved duo The Veronicas, ARIA Award-winning Ladyhawke, and up-and-coming NZ rapper JessB.

They’ll be joined by more than 150 DJs, drag queens, dancers and performance artists in each city.

To top off these massive LGBTQIA+ parties will be official after-parties at Liberty Hall in Sydney and The Industrique Warehouse in Melbourne. Plus, third release ticket buyers have the option to make a donation to pay the rent to the traditional land owners in each city.

Third release tickets are on sale 11am on 4 August.
