Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Back in 2022 for another season of intimate, bespoke gatherings tailored to music lovers, Suburban Vibes returns to Perth's Subiaco with a live music programme of seasoned performers alongside the best up-and-comers.

Spread across ten days (7-16 October), Suburban Vibes will host 23 artists at 9 Subiaco spaces – from gardens, laneways, bars, and breweries – with a mix of free and ticketed showcases.

"We'll be bringing our rugs and festoons to create a super cosy vibe," organiser Regan Grant says. "Suburban Vibes is about creating a space of intimate and chilled performances from amazing musicians.

"We want you to immerse yourself in their music and stories, and to experience these performers in a more vulnerable, stripped-back environment."

A highlight of the 2022 Suburban Vibes schedule is the pairing of two of WA's most revered singer-songwriters, Katy Steele and Timothy Nelson, who'll share the stage together in front of just 100 people at Subiaco Hotel.

"Looking forward to another show with my friends at Suburban Vibes! I'll be playing solo with Timothy Nelson on 13 October. I can't wait!" beams Katy.

Hiddlestone Lane will become the focus of Suburban Vibes with a host of after-work events where punters can bring their own picnic blanket and drinks to enjoy the live music (from Ben Catley, Savanah Solomon, Jordy Maxwell, Sash Seabourne and Darcie Haven) under the festoon lights.

"Keen to be releasing some more new music shortly :) Also coming up, on Thurs Oct 13th I'll be playing a cool little event in Subiaco for Suburban Vibes (5-6pm) at Hiddlestone Lane, free entry!" shares Ben Catley.

Slide guitar aficionado Mikey Long is playing at El Peruvian accompanied by authentic Peruvian food; while Tanya Ransom, Sam McGovern and Austin Mackay come together at Little Things Gin; and Subiaco's newest brewery, Golden West Brewery, will host Keeley Connolly and Riley Pearce.

Suburban Vibes will finish with a bang at Market Square Park hosting all-girl indie-pop band Dulcie, country faves The Little Lord Street Band, quirky foursome King Ibis, and in-demand Adrian Dzvuke with his soulful mixture of Afrobeats, R&B and pop. Add food trucks, a coffee cart, ice-cream, and other pop-ups – it's a free day out for the whole family.
