Rock royalty is headed to Australia, with Californian band Stone Temple Pilots to tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their sophomore record, 'Purple'.
The run of shows will commence late February in Sydney followed by further headlining dates in Adelaide, Newcastle, and Brisbane as well as festival appearances at Hello Sunshine in Melbourne and Gold Coast – they'll perform 'Purple' in its entirety at each show."AUSTRALIA! We are excited to announce that we will be returning down under to celebrate 30 years of 'Purple', with our friends Wolfmother 🤘🇦🇺," posted the band.
Released on June 7, 1994, 'Purple' was the follow-up to Stone Temple Pilots' 1992 debut 'Core' (which sold over eight million copies and earned a Grammy Award, and featured 'Plush' and 'Creep').
'Purple' debuted at #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in the US as well as #1 on the ARIA album chart locally, and quickly became a fan favourite selling over six million copies globally.
'Purple' features some of the group's most beloved tracks including 'Interstate Love Song' and 'Vasoline'. It also includes 'Big Empty', a song that first appeared on the film soundtrack for 'The Crow', as well as 'Unglued', 'Still Remains' and 'Meatplow'.
Currently in the middle of their North American Jubilee tour (also celebrating 'Purple') with Live, Stone Temple Pilots are excited to continue the celebration with their Aussie fans.
Tickets on sale from 9am AEST on 6 September.
