Saturated with the sounds of '90s rock-punk Aussie nostalgia, Spring Loaded returns in 2023 with its first event landing in Brisbane early June.
The first 'of many' Spring Loaded events this year, the Brisbane leg will be headlined by Finley's finest (and certified Aussie rock OGs) Spiderbait, who continue (in their fourth decade together) to rock hard with such bangers as 'Black Betty', 'Buy Me A Pony', 'Calypso' and 'Shazam'.The rollout of classic '90s Aussie (and Kiwi) rock sounds continues with the addition of 'From The Sea' lads Eskimo Joe, Sydney indie champs RATCAT ('That Ain't Bad', 'Don't Go Now'), and New Zealand alternative chargers Shihad ('Home Again').
Eternally young punk larrikins Frenzal Rhomb, who have dropped new music in the form of 'Where Drug Dealers Take Their Kids' single that's lifted from the group's new album 'The Cup Of Pestilence' (out early April), will also join the Spring Loaded fun, alongside Geelong sonic gems Magic Dirt, Melbourne punk-rock legends Bodyjar and Brisbane's indie pop wizards Screamfeeder.
"What a great line-up, we are so stoked to be headlining, will be awesomely awesome," enthuses Kram from Spiderbait.
"A lot of great memories for us playing with amazing bands like Magic Dirt and Screamfeeder – to have three legends like Janet, Adalita and Kellie all on the same show will be brilliant and beautiful, and all the other great bands of brothers as well, we can't wait."
Eskimo Joe frontman Kav Temperley is equally amped to join the action. "When I see line-ups like the upcoming Spring Loaded festival, I get so excited.
"These are all bands that have influenced our band in a major way, so to be included in this stellar line-up is just such an honour: Spiderbait, RATCAT, Shihad, Frenzal Rhomb, Magic Dirt, Bodyjar and Screamfeeder; seriously, who could ask for more?"
Excited to be back for another round, Magic Dirt's Adalita enthuses: "We're mega excited to be rockin' the Spring Loaded stage again this year.
"Back with our good mates, back with the awesome fans and ready to rock out! And this time we get to play with one of favourite bands that totally influenced us as kids – RATCAT! We can't wait!"
