American dream-pop band Sports are bringing their world tour to Australia in 2026.
The pairing of Cale Chronister and Christian Theriot, who are responsible for such hits as 'You Are The Right One', 'Baby Baby' and 'Panama', will headline concerts in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this July.
Last week, Sports released their newest, self-title album that features singles released over the past year like 'Nice 2 Meet Myself (Bang Bang Bang)', 'If You Want Me', 'Keep Falling In Love' and 'Drama King', alongside a collection of brand-new songs.
'Sports' is also the first project the pair have self-produced, and was written, recorded and produced in a studio they built from scratch in their Tulsa home town.
"It's all yours now," Sports posted. "This album is a return to centre. We met in junior high and have been making music ever since.
"This one was truly a labour of love. We took over a studio space above an insurance company. Filled it with gear, and added astroturf from our high school football field so we could touch grass every day making it.
"This record was created by us, but we have so many behind the scenes helping make this all possible. Truly thank you to everyone who helped us get this rollout across the finish line.
"Day ones thanks for hanging around so long and everyone who's just finding us, welcome 💞 we are just getting started."
The album's focus track is titled 'Jelly' and highlights the duo's shift toward bolder pop instincts with more intentional transitions across the album.
"This is one of my favourites on the record because it feels very different from anything we've done before," Christian says.
"We were really into pop at the time – A.G. Cook, which led me to Charli – and we wanted every sound to feel bold, with a vocal that really hits. Even though it sounds like there's a lot going on, it's actually pretty sparse."
Tickets on sale from 11am (local time) on 25 February.
