The impact of the Greater Sydney lockdown has forced the cancellation of the Sydney pop up event, Splendour In The City.
From the Splendour In The Grass team, the multiple day mini festival was set to host the likes of Tash Sultana, Illy, Violent Soho, Spacey Jane, Ocean Alley and a stack more at the Overseas Passenger Terminal (10-18 July).Given the COVID outbreaks now evolving in other States (lockdowns in Perth and Darwin among them) pertaining to moving artists and crew around the country and maintaining the health and safety of staff, volunteers and ticket holders, the decision to cancel was made.
"This is a heartbreaking situation for all of the crew, suppliers and artists that were working hard to deliver this event for Sydney," Jessica Ducrou, Co-CEO Secret Sounds, says.
"Splendour In The City was set to provide much needed income for our live music industry which has been devastated since March 2020.
"We want to thank all of the music lovers out there who purchased tickets. Your ongoing support is very much appreciated."
Refunds will begin today; all purchasers will receive information from Moshtix directly.
The good news is that Splendour XR is 100 per cent COVID proof and will go ahead as planned on 24-25 July. Check it out and get your party on.
The 20th edition of Splendour In The Grass will happen IRL moving to a late spring date (19-21 November) at North Byron Parkland with headliners Gorillaz, The Strokes and Tyler, The Creator
