Four local bands — Archers, Console Warriors, Presidio and The Sun And The Sky — will battle it out for the right to share the Thebarton Theatre stage with Of Monsters & Men, Passion Pit, Snakadaktal, Chet Faker, Fidlar, The Jungle Giants and Dune Rats.
This is the second year for the Spin Off Music Festival, which made a blockbuster debut in 2012 with headliners Lana Del Rey, Kimbra and Band Of Skulls (the event, organised in conjunction with Paul Piticco, serves as a bite-sized version of Splendour In The Grass for Adelaide audiences).
The band comp was also held last year; winners Messrs have gone on to make a name for themselves on the national touring circuit.
All four bands contending for this year's nod would be worthy winners. Archers have risen rapidly since the release of debut EP What Birds Think; the cross-dressing Console Warriors have caused a stir with new single 'Jitterblood'; The Sun And The Sky burst onto the scene with debut single 'Already One'; and Triple J favourite Presidio is surely the greatest artist ever to share a name with the 1988 Sean Connery/Mark Harmon vehicle.
The winner will emerge at Ed Castle on Saturday June 22, with representatives of the Adelaide music industry serving as judges.
