Post-hardcore art punks, Sparta return to Australia in 2024.
Now a duo, Jim Ward (vocals, guitar) and Matt Miller (bass) complemented by rotating session drummers (currently Neil Hennessy), the band will tour as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album 'Wiretap Scars' (released in 2002).After extensive tours of the US and Europe earlier this year, Sparta will headline concerts in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth next May.
"We made the decision early on in the tour," shares Jim, "to just play the album ['Wiretap Scars'] all the way through without any talking – and I like to talk! – because we know what the album means to you all and we wanted you to be able to live in those memories."
Originally formed with At The Drive In's Tony Hajjar (drums) and Paul Hinojos (lead guitar), 'Wiretap Scars' featured the singles 'Cut Your Ribbon' and 'Air', with 'Collapse' also becoming a fan favourite.
Sparta have released five studio albums in total, with two LPs released since they reformed in 2017 with last year's 'Sparta' the first Sparta studio project to feature the group as a duo (Ward and Miller).
Tickets are on sale.
