US metallers Disturbed will headline Soundwave 2016.
The festival’s first major line-up has dropped which includes the The Prodigy, Deftones, NOFX, Public Enemy, Soulfly, L7, plus Frnkiero and the cellabration, and Sydney rockers Frenzal Rhomb.
Apart from line-up (genre) surprises, known changes to this year's event include the return to a one-day format and the confirmation there'll be no Adelaide event with promoter AJ Maddah previously bemoaning "pathetic" ticket sales of 12,000 in that state.
"Next year [2016] we just can't take the risk. In 2012 we had 37,000 [people], in 2013 we had 45,000, last year we had 20,000 and this year we've got around 12,000," Maddah told News Corp.
The dates have been moved up a month into the Australia Day slot – previously the domain of Big Day Out. A second line-up announce is expected in a few weeks.
