CBAA’s AMRAP, the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project, presents the Sounds Like Community Radio line-up at Brisbane’s 4ZZZFM.

The event is dedicated to showcasing the dynamic world of community radio for everyone from seasoned enthusiasts, to curious newcomers. And in 2025, 4ZZZ celebrate 50 years of broadcasting.

Community radio stations are crucial cultural centres. Their dedication to showcasing local artists fuels Australia’s community airwaves – reaching 5.38 million weekly listeners nationally.

In early September, music lovers can join presenters, volunteers, producers, community members, music lovers and artists at 4ZZZFM in Brisbane for a celebration of the tireless dedication and impact on our vibrant national music scenes.

The event will be hosted by CBAA’s AMRAP, 4ZZZFM, Triple R, PBS 106.7FM, Three D Radio, Edge Radio, and 2SER 107.3. The Brisbane radio station is set to open its doors to Studio 3 and the Carpark, to broadcast live music from beloved Australian artists like Platonic Sex, Roger Knox, Last Quokka, Charlie Needs Braces, IJALE, and BADASSMUTHA.

Hometown heroes Platonic Sex will charm audiences with guitar-driven melodies that resonate with the joys and tragedies of their twenties and beyond. Plus, respected First Nations musician Roger Knox will bring powerful messages of survival, resilience, love, hope, and healing in his music.

Proud GuriNgai women Charlie and Miri Woods – Charlie Needs Braces – will bring the uplifting vibes, telling stories and singing harmonies, while Githabul, Migunberri-Yugumbeh, and Gamilaroi artist BADASSMUTHA is sure to deliver her big, raw energy at the event.

AMRAP will also be hosting events as part of BIGSOUND, with Conversation Corner, a casual catch-up at Brewdog in Fortitude Valley. The team from CBAA will be there to answer all the burning questions on how to make a mark with your music.

Plus, the BIGSOUND Listening Session return at The Warrar Room at The Precinct: A chance to meet the individuals from some of Australia’s most beloved community radio stations.

Sounds Like Community Radio is on at 4ZZZ (Brisbane) on 3 September. Conversation Corner is on at Brewdog on 3 September. BIGSOUND Listening Sessions is on at The Warrar Room at The Precinct on 4 September.
