This weekend (19 September) Sounds From The Vault will host three local Adelaide bands, in part thanks to funding from City of Adelaide's Local Buzz programme.
The seated, free event is part of Umbrella Festival presents: GO LIVE's programme, with folk-rock multi-instrumentalists The Backyarders to be joined by garage-blues band The Dead Regulars and riff rockers Mum's Favourite at Renew Adelaide venue Vault 134. Previously the NAB building on Hutt Street, The Dead Regulars have been rehearsing inside the bank vault.
"We are very fortunate to have funding from City of Adelaide's Local Buzz programme, so we can pay the bands on the line-up, which is great after what has been a really difficult time for musicians," Matt Trainor, The Dead Regulars vocalist says.
"It's going to be a great night and we are so thrilled to be playing after a long lockdown. We can't wait to come out of the vault and get back on the stage."
Local Buzz is a new initiative that offers matched seed funding from $500 up to $3,000, to Adelaide city businesses to start up live music. The focus is to create a 'local buzz' around the city through more live music.
"We want our audience to deposit themselves at Vault 134 for a night of great live tunes, borrow some happiness and enjoy some super savings on terrible bank puns," Venue Manager Libby Parker says.
"The City of Adelaide has been incredibly supportive of our live music ventures here and we are so lucky to have a Renew Adelaide venue to play in.
"I wonder what the old bank manager would think about us playing rock and roll in the very spot where they granted loans and brokered deals."
Renew Adelaide is a not-for-profit organisation that supports ventures by offering flexible rent-free spaces in the CBD.
Sounds From The Vault featuring The Backyarders, The Dead Regulars and Mum's Favourite takes place at Vault 134 (Adelaide) 19 September.
