Back for its third season, Sorbaes: Sundae offers an afternoon and evening of live music mixed with a live cypher showcasing some of Melbourne's emerging dancers.
The project of DJ, designer and multidisciplinary artist Soju Gang, the 2023 instalment of Sorbaes: Sundae (26 February) will be headlined by Australian-Korean rap group 1300, and also features pop-jazz-soul singer AKOSIA, bass-jungle-techno-Afrobeat DJ-producer Brown Suga Princess and Brisbane rapper Kaylah Truth."I'm super excited to be running Sorbaes for a third year, and I'm even more excited for what we have organised for 2023 in collaboration with City Sessions," shares Soju Gang.
"I don't take these opportunities lightly – to not only be able to showcase the endless talent we have present in Melbourne's music scene, but to create a space of community, inclusion and love."
Soju has partnered with Cypher Culture's City Sessions who'll join the party hosting a live cypher showcasing the very best dance moves.
"I'm so happy to announce that I'll be performing at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for Sorbaes with the one and only Soju Gang and a line-up of incredible artists and DJs," adds AKOSIA.
For Soju, the diversity in the line-up is not the most important part of this event, but also community. "We've got so many amazing artists who do so many different things it's endless," she says.
"I feel like a lot of the events are so curated to have a specific sound and a specific vibe, where I just want to be in a one-stop shop where you might come for one person, but you are there to experience all of it in its fullness."
For good music, a good cause and a club-styled vibe, Sorbaes: Sundae definitely takes the cake.
