Brisbane punktry act Soupy LaRue announced themselves earlier this year with the debut single, 'Next Door Stranger'.
With an alternative country-rock style, the band are back with a new single, 'Teeth', which showcases a 'darker, wilder vibe'.
Soupy LaRue
The band take their name from an entity thousands of years old. Soupy LaRue lives outside of time and wanders the Earth and other vaguely entertaining planets. After several strange, paranormal encounters they began sharing his stories through their music.
‘Teeth’ came to be when Soupy LaRue stumbled across a tribe of cannibals in South America, prompting the band to write about the ritualistic aspect of the consumption of human flesh. The tribesmen believe they absorb the power of those that they consume, but... they got a little more than they bargained for when they ate the not-quite human, omnipresent Soupy LaRue.
Soupy LaRue are working towards their debut EP, due to be released later this year, where they will share more tales of Soupy LaRue’s wild and weird adventures.
'Teeth' will be launched at the Woolly Mammoth (Brisbane) 12 August with fellow locals Faux Bandit on support duties.
