Fresh from playing Glastonbury and Download Festival, English punk rockers SOFT PLAY return to Australia early 2025, their first shows down under in six years.
Known for their hits including 'The Hunter' and 'Cheer Up London' as well as their Gorillaz collab 'Momentary Bliss', the duo of Isaac Holman and Laurie Vincent will headline gigs in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. "AUSTRALIA, WE’RE COMING."With fans including The Streets' Mike Skinner and Beastie Boys' Mike D, SOFT PLAY recently released their fourth studio album 'Heavy Jelly' – their first since changing their name from Slaves in 2022: "The name 'Slaves' is an issue [and] doesn't represent who we are as people or what our music stands for any longer."
'Heavy Jelly' has created a wealth of memorable moments in recent months, from the scathing satire of 'Punk's Dead', via the snarling rage of 'Act Violently' to the poignancy of 'Everything And Nothing'.
As Laurie explains, the key to SOFT PLAY unlocking all of that was relatively simple. "We're like brothers in the sense that you can't always be best mates with your brother, but now we've got it back.
"We needed to learn how to be friends again, and then all the silliness comes out of that – which is what was fun about our band in the first place."
Tickets are on sale.
