Thankfully, So Pop is returning in 2020 with a glistening line-up of pop perfection to fulfil all of our nostalgic feels.
The festival's 2019 debut was a runaway success. Aqua, Vengaboys, B*Witched and more delivered hours of the biggest party tunes for fans across the country.
The next iteration of So Pop brings another line-up of hit-making, record-breaking pop royalty to arenas across Australia. All the artists are exclusive to the festival.
Without further ado, please welcome the class of So Pop 2020!
The Pussycat Dolls are fresh from the announcement of their reunion and will hit Aussie shores. With 54 million worldwide record sales and over one billion streams, the multi-platinum-selling powerhouse that are the Dolls, are one of the best-selling female groups of all time. They blew up in the '00s with anthems such as 'Don't Cha', 'Buttons', When I Grow Up', 'Beep' and more.
British five-piece Steps will make their Australian performance debut. One of the UK's most successful pop groups ever, Steps have sold 20 million records worldwide, have BRIT Award wins and nominations, and more. They're responsible for singalong hits 'Chain Reaction', 'Tragedy', 'Love's Got A Hold On My Heart', 'Scared Of The Dark' and '5, 6, 7, 8'. They'll be bringing their boot-scootin' best in April. . . Dance prep starts now!
Set to make hearts swoon with the opening riff of 'Beautiful Soul' is Jesse McCartney. The American singer's enchanting stage demeanour will turn up the heat across the country with tracks such as 'She's No You', 'Get Your Shine On' and 'Leaving'.
Surf-garage five-piece Smash Mouth will be making their return down under and are ready to send the So Pop stage into meltdown. Frontman Steve Harwell is known for his hypnotising vocals meshed with crunchy guitar pop, showcased in jams 'Walkin On The Sun', 'Can't Get Enough Of You Baby', and 'Shrek' soundtrack anthem 'I'm A Believer'. Oh, and a whole arena of fans singing along to 'All Star'? I said yep, what a concept.
You better not kill the groove. . . British songstress Sophie Ellis-Bextor brings her smooth moves to Australia. She took over the '00s airwaves with 'Murder On The Dancefloor', 'Groovejet' and 'Get Over You'. Time to awaken the dancing queen within!
Also joining the gang are Dutch trance-pop project Alice DJ bringing contagious beats like 'Back In My Life', 'Better Off Alone' and 'Will I Ever', Danish artist and producer Whigfield with global smashes 'Sexy Eyes' and 'Think Of You', electro-reggae duo Reel 2 Real featuring The Mad Stuntman known for classics 'I Like To Move It' and 'Go On Move', as well as Irish diva Samantha Mumba with heartfelt james 'Gotta Tell You', 'Baby Come On Over' and 'Always Come Back To Your Love'.
So Pop 2020 resident DJ Rojdar will spinning massive party bops between these huge acts, joined by DJ Tigerlily.
