Aussie rockers Slowly Slowly have cancelled their national tour, with management citing frontman Ben Stewart's health challenges as the primary reason.
The tour, which was originally slated for last year before being pushed back on five separate occasions, was already facing its sixth COVID-related rescheduling prior to today's news.Slowly Slowly recently released 'Blueprint', their most successful single to do date by every metric, racking up over a quarter of a million streams.
Statement from management:
It's with a heavy heart that we announce that the rest of The Race Car Blues Tour is officially cancelled due to current health challenges for frontman Ben Stewart.
With a sixth reschedule also in sight due to ongoing COVID restrictions along the east coast, the compounding of a new health hurdle for Ben has forced the cancelling of all remaining dates and refunding of tickets.
After many attempts at shifting dates and shuffling venue capacities to make these shows happen, we hope you know that we gave it everything we had. While we're all hopeful for Ben's full recovery, it's important that he takes some time to place his full focus on his health. With this in mind, plans for Slowly Slowly need to be put on hold for the time being.
We're so grateful to every fan who has bought a ticket and supported the band throughout the past 18 months. Your tickets will be fully refunded by your ticket outlet, and if you purchased re-sale tickets, we'd ask you to please reach out to the original ticket holder. If you would like to support the band during this extremely difficult time, please keep spinning their music, or consider buying a record and some merchandise.
Thank you again for your ongoing support, and please keep an eye out — we're excited to share details of a very special live set from The Night Cat soon.
