After playing Laneway 2018 then headlining their own tour in 2023, shoegaze pioneers Slowdive can't get enough of Australian audiences.
The 'When The Sun Hits' and 'Sugar For The Pill' hitmakers will headline gigs in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane this April-May.These will also represent local fans opportunity to hear more material from Slowdive's fifth studio album, 2023's 'Everything Is Alive' (which was released post their 2023 Australian dates).
Though the good news doesn't end there: "We're returning this April/ May with our friends Beach Fossils!" What a lush twin-bill of ethereal, lo-fi dream pop.
Slowdive were formed in Reading circa 1989 by childhood friends Neil Halstead (vocals, guitar) and Rachel Goswell (vocals). Later welcoming Christian Savill (guitar), Nick Chaplin (bass) and Simon Scott (drums), the band signed to Creation Records in 1990, finding themselves alongside bands like My Bloody Valentine.
Genre-defining 1994 album 'Souvlaki' propelled the band to the forefront of the alternative scene, now sitting at 376 million Spotify streams. Read our review of their 2023 Sydney concert.
With a catalogue of dreamy, nostalgic-sounding anthems including 'Down The Line', 'Sleep Apnea' and 'What A Pleasure', this will be Beach Fossils first Australian dates since 2023, the same year the New York City band released 'Bunny' their fourth studio album.
"Australia! We're thrilled to announce we'll be joining our friends Slowdive on tour in April and May."
