Singer-Songwriter Fletcher Kent's Top 5 Aussie Artists To Watch

Fletcher Kent
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and some beyond.

Returning to Collingwood for another year is Live Nation Australia's 'Ones To Watch', offering attendees a showcase of inspiring up-and-coming musical talents to keep their eyes on.

For the first 2025 'Ones To Watch' event, Live Nation is hitting The Gasometer, with host Tait McGregor – with performances from Melbourne alt-rock force Lotte Gallagher, dynamic Sydney pop act Salty, and charismatic Central Coast songwriter Fletcher Kent.

The series began in 2023, serving the industry (and its fans!) exclusive opportunities to check out some of the country's best new talents in intimate environments.

Fletcher Kent's performance presence has captured the attention of audiences in person and online, with his debut single 'I'll Be' generating a strong following of more than 50,000 across Fletcher's platforms.

The singer-songwriter has cut his teeth on major stages supporting acts like Pete Murray and Vera Blue, and he's now got a debut album in the pipeline.

Ahead of 'Ones To Watch' in Collingwood, Fletcher Kent compiles his personal top five acts to watch, who he believes will continue to rise.

One

Joel Leggett – from my hometown on the Central Coast. . . Loving his recent album (and upcoming I’ve heard live) with unreal coastal singer/songwriter vibes to early Beatles-inspired rock. Loving his 'Should’ve Known Better'!

Two

Neptune – out of Cronulla. . . Killer songwriting, awesome catalogue of perfect chill mix songs complemented with sing-along bangers. Check out 'Just My Luck'!

Three

Austin Mackay – Newcastle country artist with an awesome voice, unreal live show and lyrics that cut through. Check out his new one 'Time To Learn'!

Four

Vanilla Gorilla – from Seal Rocks region. . . Years since their last release – they have a killer new album on the way which I’m lucky to have heard a preview of (as my sister’s boyfriend Wylie plays keys in the band). 'Exhale' is one of many sick ones to come!

Five

Dedpan – from Sydney. . . Punk band that have been playing lots around the Sydney scene. Grace, who plays bass in my band, is a core member of Dedpan, and their live show is a wild head-banging experience. My favourites are 'Lie To Me' or 'Icarus'.

'Ones To Watch' is on at The Gasometer Hotel (Collingwood) 13 February. Fletcher Kent's new single 'Are You Ready' is out now.
