A half decade since they last toured Australia, the mesmerising and enchanting Sigur Rós have extended their 2022 world tour (that kicks off in Mexico next month) adding headlining shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in August.
First sending fans into a delirious fever of excitement last month with news the band had reconvened and were working on the first new Sigur Rós studio album since 2013's 'Kveikur', the good news was doubled when former keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson announced he had re-joined the band after stepping away to focus on other projects almost a decade ago.The Icelandic post-rock, dream-pop act have been active for close to 30 years and have achieved six #1 albums in their homeland while recruiting a passionate legion of fans worldwide hooked on their distinctive, ethereal sound.
Sigur Ros have also become entwined in modern pop-culture, with their music featured in many Hollywood projects as well as the group creating music for 'The Simpsons' and 'Game Of Thrones' (even appearing in the latter).
With new music and a glistening 25-year back catalogue in their arsenal, Sigur Ros are set to hypnotise Australian audiences once more.
Tickets on sale from 1pm (local time) on 4 April.
