Hey ho day glo! As punk as pink can be. Yes, Japan's astropop-punk trio Shonen Knife return to Australia in 2024.
Set to be their sixth tour down under, since their first visit in 1997, Shonen Knife have been touring and making music for 43 years.A style that blends '60s pop (think Beach Boys and Beatles) with '70s punk (like Ramones) to foster a DIY garage rock sound, Shonen Knife's most recent album (their 20th studio record) is 'Our Best Place' that was released in early 2023.
The indie darlings of hipsters and rock stars alike, the current incarnation of the band features sisters Naoko Yamano and Atsuko Yamano (Atsuko rejoined the group in 2016 after a decade-long hiatus) and drummer Risa Kawano (who joined the band in 2015).
