Soul singer Sharon Jones has been diagnosed with stage-one bile duct cancer and has cancelled plans for an album and tour in 2013.
In a press release, Jones revealed she needs immediate surgery. Her doctors caught the tumour early and the cancer hasn't spread, so the 57-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.
Jones and her band, The Dap-Kings, had planned to release Give The People What They Want on August 6.
Jones has assured fans that she's "down, but not out!" and has pledged to keep them updated on her progress. Here's hoping it's all good news.
