Off the back of a massive tour after the release of his newest album, ‘Strange New Past’, Seth Sentry is back to do it all over again at OzFest 2016.
OzFest is an annual pop-up music festival held at the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. This year, headline acts include not only Seth Sentry, but San Cisco, Art Vs Science, Saskwatch and Tired Lion. It’s a festival where you can rock up in your boardies and thongs for the variety of live music and stay into the night for the party.
This will be Seth’s first time appearing at OzFest and he’s interested to see what it has in store. Not ruining any surprises, Seth will be bringing a mystery guest along with him for his OzFest shows. “I’m going to be bringing with me DJ Sizzle and I may have another special guest on stage with me as well which is something I don’t want to spoil but it’s kind of something I’ve been working towards over the last couple of years. So I’m very very excited to show you the new show format.”
‘Strange New Past’ is Seth’s sophomore album baring more of his soul through honesty and reflection. Seth describes ‘Strange New Past’ as the album he needed to write and the album his fans need to hear. “I’m really, really happy with how it came out and it was the album I always wanted to write and the album I always needed to write. It’s a really honest depiction of where I’m at and I got a lot of stuff off my chest that I always wanted to talk about in my music so I feel really good,” he says.
Seth has had a bit of down time since breaking his foot near the end of his 55-show Australian tour and is eager to get back on stage. “I guess I’ve kind of been crippled the last month so I’m just getting back and moving again… I’ve had a month of down time playing video games and I’m keen to get back out there.”
Starting at Falls Festival 2015, Seth will play Summernats and Southbound before reaching OzFest as he gets back into the swing of things after touring ‘Strange New Past’.
After headlining his own shows for the past few months, Seth says he will be approaching the next month of festival shows a little differently to his own. “I kind of approach them both differently.
"With festivals, obviously it’s a lot less intimate and it’s a lot busier and the energy is there so you’ve just got to be a bit more larger than life and a lot more adrenaline fuelled and hyper. Whereas with the smaller, more intimate shows, you get to talk to people and it can be like you’re all kind of hanging out in the room together.”
Seth is already thinking about the next album and is hoping to get back into the studio soon, but for now is just excited to see everyone during the next month. “I’m just excited to see everyone soon… Can’t wait. I’ll see everyone [at Ozfest] in their shorts and thongs.”
