Created by DJ Richie Rich in Melbourne circa 1990, seminal promoters of electronic music in Australia, Hardware are celebrating their 30th birthday by collaborating on a special book – and they need your help.
With such iconic raves to their credit like Two Tribes, Stereosonic, PURE, A State Of Trance and much, much more there's no doubting the legacy Hardware has had on Australia's electronic music history.
Then there's all the boutique events and club nights that further cemented their place as icons of Australia's music landscape.
Here's a message from DJ Richie Rich:
Celebrating 30 years of creating and promoting electronic music in Australia, Hardware is calling on all fans, photographers, graphic designers, decorators, video animators, DJs, performers, music producers, suppliers, club owners and family to dig deep to find any footage, photos, tickets, passes, posters etc. from the past years of events, music releases, festivals and club nights.
This 30-year anniversary book will celebrate the history of Hardware and everything that came with it.
Raves, festivals, clubs, record stores, distribution, labels, publishing, graphic design studio, clothing and even spray paint, the book will feature stories and inside truths through my eyes, and all the influential people that inspired me and made Melbourne one of the greatest music scenes in the world.
I'm very excited to have spent a year on this project and in 2021 we will be celebrating the whole year with some of the very Hardware legends that I grew to love and respect. These artists gave me the drive to get up every day to do what I do for 30 years, and beyond!
