Semaphore Workers Club 2023 Weekender Spotlights Local Adelaide Talent

Ella & Sienna are part of the Semaphore Workers Club Weekender 2023 line-up.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Adelaide's original alt. country, roots and blues festival held annually every October long weekend, Semaphore Music Festival presents the Semaphore Workers Club Weekender in 2023.

Spread across three sessions (29-30 September, 1 October), this year's instalment kicks off at CBD hotspot Memphis Slim's with Dusty Lee's Blues Jam featuring a line-up of local stars led by Dusty Lee from funk-soul-infused rock band Wanderers alongside a number of special guests who'll hit the stage for a night of thrills and chills.

The Saturday evening session heads to the festival's beachside home at Semaphore Workers Club featuring Adelaide Hills sister pop-folk-country duo Ella & Sienna, who'll be performing material from their 2023 debut EP 'Seven Ways To Say You're Fine' with their band: Michael Marino, Sebastian Brook, Solomon Young, and Keith Gardner.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be heading back to the Semaphore Music Festival on the October long weekend again this year," shares Ella.

"This year's line-up over the three days really is incredible, the Workers Club is an awesome venue, and it's always heaps of fun."

Adds Sienna: "We'll be playing with our full band, which is just the best vibe, and also to include this festival as part of our EP tour is really cool. It's going to be an awesome weekend, a great show with The Shadow Ministers on the Saturday night, and we are really looking forward to it."

Underground garage rockers The Shadow Ministers will share their groove-licious riffs and hip-swaying beats from their 2023 debut album 'Low Noise – High Output'.

Semaphore Workers Club Weekender wraps with a Sunday session featuring the powerful soul-infused blues of Stormhorse and their fabulous singers Kate Lewis and Tyler Venter – who are both graduates from the Elder Conservatorium – as well as Whyalla's The Beinke Brothers.

Leo, John and Robert grew up in a musical family on a farm at Narridy Creek near Cowell on the Eyre Peninsula, forming their first band together in 1980 playing around the Eyre Peninsula. After 35 years the band is back together.

"We are delighted to be approaching our 20th birthday next year," shares Event Organiser Debra Thorsen.

"Who would have thought that we'd survive this crazy ride. We're honoured to be working with the best of SA talent and thank all our loyal fans for showing up year after year. You rock! Thanks to scenestr for supporting us too."

Semaphore Workers Club Weekender takes place at Semaphore Workers Club (Adelaide) from Friday 29 September to Sunday 1 October.
