In 2018, the Semaphore Music Festival marks its 14th year of proudly supporting local South Australian live music another stacked roster of homegrown acts, along with interstate headliners .
This year's line-up presents a carefully curated programme of artists from the genres of alt. country, Americana, roots, blues, folk and indie rock performing across various venues around the histroic precincts of Semaphore and Port Adelaide.
The 2018 Semaphore Music Festival line-up features Kings & Associates, Gail Page & Friends, Amber Joy Poulton, Original West Enders, Drama Kings, Wild Rocket, Imogen Brave, The Northern Lights, The Hurricanes, The High Beamers and many more.
The APRA/AMCOS sponsored Semaphore Songs composers will present their offerings on Monday 1 October at Hart’s Mill Flour Shed. Nancy Bates, Tara Carragher, Emily Davis, Jessica Wishart, Mary Webb, Naomi Keyte, Nick Kipridis, Ange Stephen Portolesi will participate in a 'Songwriter Speaks' panel discussion convened by Alana Jagt.
They will perform throughout the day, winding up with a rare performance by Velvet Moth and the Emily Davis Band presenting songs from her new album - 'You, Me and the Velvet Sea'.
Tara Carragher will also present a touching tribute to one of her songwriting idols when she performs her show 'Righteously: The Music Of Lucinda Williams' (read our recent interview with Tara here), supported by Matt Ward and The Heggarties.
Local pub The Exeter Hotel will transform into a Honky Tonk for the weekend featuring some of Adelaide’s best rockabilly, blues and roots acts including Exeter Blues, Wanda Jackson’s guitarist Johnny Siegel, The Memphis Suns, Nobody’s Sweethearts and the Roots V Retro Record Hop.
Semaphore Music Festival venues this year include Hart’s Mill Flour Shed in Port Adelaide as well as pubs, clubs and businesses around Semaphore, Glanville and Exeter, including Semaphore Workers Club, Lickerish Kitchen & Bar, Exeter Hotel, The Fed, Cumberland Hotel, Hades Hula House, Mr V Music, Semaphore Port Adelaide RSL, The Palais Hotel and St Bede’s Church.
Semaphore Music Festival was established in 2005 and has grown into a popular boutique and family-friendly annual event that offers live music to a niche market of music lovers over the September/October long weekend.
