Brisbane stoner rockers, Seismic Toss are charging up for an epic celebration when they play the New Globe Theatre on New Year’s Eve.
“I reckon it’s safe to say it’ll be pretty sweaty, loud and there’ll be a lot of hair,” laughs Seismic Toss guitarist/ vocalist Jonathan Depaul.

“The New Year's Eve show will be good because they’re going to make it really wallet-friendly. They’re not jacking up the drink prices and they’ll have heaps of specials and the cover charge is minimal, which is good.
“A lot of clubs know that night, people are going to be getting loose and they take advantage of it, but The Globe’s a sick venue, they’re all about giving back and supporting the locals, so good on ‘em.”
Since forming in 2010, Seismic Toss have released two EPs including a split EP they recorded with friends and fellow Brisbanites, The Royal Artillery. Jonathan says the band is currently in the process of compiling new material for their debut album. “We’ve got some demos and ideas down and it’s just a process of organising everyone and everything, and putting the time in.

“It should be easy this time, we went out and bought stuff for our own studio so we can put it together without having to pay money to a studio. That should hopefully facilitate things a lot easier. You can work on it at your own convenience [and] you’re not worried about getting your takes in a certain amount of time.”
As 2016 approaches, Jonathan says Seismic Toss is focused on building the band with an increased live presence. “We’re going to work on more new material, try and get it recorded and keep playing shows, making new friends and I suppose enemies if people don’t like the noise.
"Not everyone can get it but that’s the beauty of it,” he says with a laugh.
