Save The Date: Groovin The Moo Returns In 2024

Save the date: Groovin The Moo returns in 2024.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

A staple of regional Australia for close on two decades, travelling music festival Groovin The Moo (GTM) is back in 2024 arriving late April, early May.

Once more set to taking in six stops around the country, including a new location for NSW, the first weekend will see Adelaide, Canberra and Bendigo host the mooosic.

The following weekend, GTM will land in Newcastle for the very first time at the gorgeous Foreshore Park next to the ocean before heading north to Sunshine Coast and a new, more spacious and central venue – Sunshine Coast Stadium Precinct. The GTM action then wraps up out west one week later at Bunbury in WA's south-west.

The switch of the NSW leg from its traditional Maitland home to Newcastle was made after community consultation and consistent patron feedback about transport and accommodation requirements. "We're really excited to be putting on a festival in Foreshore Park," a GTM spokesperson says.

"Whilst Maitland has played a major part in the history of GTM, Newcastle's transport and accomodation options will provide a better experience for our patrons. Foreshore Park is a stunning location and we look forward to calling it home."

Adds Newcastle Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelme: "City of Newcastle is a strong supporter of live music and is committed to attracting and hosting major events."

Birthplace to GMT alumni Silverchair (2007, 2010) and The Screaming Jets (who played the very first GTM in 2005), Australia's second oldest city, Newcastle boasts more artists than any other city.

"Groovin The Moo will be a valuable addition to this year's events calendar," continues Nelme, "allowing locals to experience some of the best Australian and international acts at the city's premier events space in Foreshore Park, while also delivering an important boost to local businesses and the visitor economy."

So with festival dates locked in and the 2024 line-up dropping very soon (stay tuned for that announcement), isn't it time to request time off work and start planning your road-trip with your festival besties?
