Two of Australian rock's leading forces, Sarah McLeod and Dallas Frasca are teaming up for a national tour early next year that doubles as a campaign for sustainable touring.
The 15-day capital city and regional run of shows will commences in Albury mid-February, before zig-zagging through Wangaratta, Melbourne, Frankston, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Adelaide (x2 shows), Fremantle, Perth, Wollongong, Canberra and Sydney, before a final stop in Newcastle mid-March.
The tour will see each artist perform their own powerful original hits, as well as reimagined rock bangers and new collaborations as McLeod and Frasca come together backed by two thunderous drummers for this one-of-a-kind live music experience.
Dubbed the Green Electric tour, McLeod and Frasca have teamed with Green Music Australia to green the tour, Sarah and Dallas adding a small levy to ticket prices to fund measurable sustainable touring actions.
From recycled merchandise and sustainable travel routes to meat-free catering and eco-certified accommodation, every detail has been designed to minimise impact.
"We wanted to do something that wasn't just loud, but meaningful," McLeod says. "If rock and roll can't lead the charge for change, what can?"
Both artists will implement inset emissions strategies to reduce and offset their impact within the operations around live touring, an ambitious venture but one both are excited to undertake.
"We've both spent years on the road – it's the wild west out there when it comes to sustainability," Dallas says. "We want to show our fans that there are simple ways to make a big difference, and that every action counts."
The pair will also document, offering fans an insight into the challenges and fulfilling moments of putting such a tour together; charting the wins, the fails and the creative chaos, in an open and transparent exploration of how artists can reduce the environmental impact of live touring.
