One of Australia's most revered singer-songwriters of the last 20 years, Sarah Blasko will celebrate two of her seminal albums when she tours this spring.
A four-time platinum selling, three-time ARIA Award-winning musician-producer, Blasko is honouring her 21 years as a songwriter by performing her debut record 'The Overture & The Underscore' (2004) and commercial breakthrough 'What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have' (2006) in their entirety, together with her long-standing live band: David Hunt, David Symes, Laurence Pike and Neal Sutherland. The tour will visit Wollongong, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney between September-October. The news is accompanied by the announcement Blasko will release for the very first time both albums on 2LP gatefold vinyl on 5 September (pre-order them).
While listening back to the test pressings of 'The Overture', and reflecting on the artwork, songs, and the album's sentiment, it crystallised for Sarah that even as a young artist on the brink of releasing her debut she knew that she wanted "to do this for a long time".
"I am, in a way, quite proud of my younger self for knowing that this career is what I wanted, and that I was setting that up for myself without even realising."
'The Overture' features 'Don't U Eva', 'Perfect Now', 'Always Worth It' and 'All Coming Back' as well as her cover of 'Flame Trees' (which will feature on the vinyl) that had a resurgence when it was featured in Netflix's 'Heartbreak High' reboot spawning a remix by Cub Sport.
'What The Sea Wants' was Sarah's big surrender: to loss, to nature, to that in life which we can't control penning such fan favourites as 'Always On The Line', 'Planet New Year', 'The Garden's End' and 'Amazing Things'.
With a career now spanning seven solo albums, two albums with Holly Throsby and Sally Seltmann as Seeker Lover Keeper, music compositions for two Bell Shakespeare productions and the likes of Sir Elton John counted amongst her fans, Sarah continues to be as expansive as she is prolific, writing songs that strike with rare immediacy, clarity and purpose.
Tickets on sale from 11am (local time) on 17 June.
