Now established at the forefront of Australia's indie music scene, San Cisco continue to build a brand that has made them festival favourites as much as that band you escape with inside your own headphones.
Their next sonic chapter is titled 'Under The Light', a song co-written with GUM, Pond, and Tame Impala's Jay Watson – that could be (or maybe not) a taste of the WA group's next studio album.A song that bursts with bright indie-dance tones and a careening rhythm that explodes in a sonic wave, lyrically 'Under The Light' captures equal parts euphoria and melancholy: "Almost like a bad-girl party anthem, a sweaty nightclub scenario, and regretting things the next day," shares the band, who will next month perform live at the Singapore Forumla One Grand Prix.
Adds the group's drummer Scarlett Stevens: "We thought about a club where at the end of the night the lights come up and the truth is revealed.
"It became a metaphor for having a spotlight on us as people, and discovering hard truths about growing up. I thought by this age I'd probably have everything sorted, but really it's just as much of a sh.t fight as it's ever been. Actually more so!"
San Cisco will roadtest their new dance-floor anthem when they embark on national tour in November, taking in dates in Northern Rivers, Brisbane, Sydney, Central Coast, Adelaide, Melbourne, Torquay, and Perth.
"This is going to be our first proper run of shows in some time and to be honest, we are just really excited to show off our new songs in real life! It's our favourite part of the whole being-in-a-band thing," explain San Cisco.
"For anyone planning on attending, please learn the words because the San Cisco choir is taking new members and we wanna hear your sing."
