San Cisco 2019 Australia Tour

San Cisco
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

San Cisco, the beloved indie sweethearts of Fremantle, are back at it again with the release of a long-awaited new single, 'Skin', as well as a run of national tour dates.

After spending the last couple of years dappling in everything from re-imagined acoustic releases, whirlwind tours, and infectious remixes (see their collaboration with Ginoli for Mannequin Online's track, 'Cool'), this will be the band's first new drop since 2017 LP, 'The Water'.

'Skin' is set to be the first of an eclectic mix of songs from San Cisco's fourth studio album.

The trio of Jordi Davieson, Joshua Biondillo and Scarlett Stevens wear their collective hearts on their respective sleeves as they showcase a more sensitive and melancholic approach with lyrics centring around themes of hopelessness, heartbreak and longing.

“'Skin' is about being left by a partner that was meant to be 'forever'. Being frustrated with the fact you have no control of the situation and living at the mercy of your soon-to-not-be lover’s decisions. You still see a small glimmer of hope, but ultimately it’s over,” Jordi says.

It's been almost a decade since San Cisco first made waves with their debut release, 'Awkward'. Eight years on, and the generation of teenagers who fell in love with 'Awkward' have grown up and so has San Cisco. Known for their quirky contrast between bright hooks and stark, garage-esque vocals, the indie outfit deliver a more full and flourishing sound with 'Skin'.

They have reunited with ARIA Award-winning producer Steven Scharm for 'Skin'. The track also features added production and mixing from POND's James Ireland, and additional engineering from fellow Fremantle local and owner of Tunafish recording company, Broderick Madden-Scott.

The San Cisco gang will also hit the road for a national tour starting late November. The band will be performing at intimate venues in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Newcastle, Sydney, and Perth.

What better way to take the edge off a blistering summer's nights than rendezvousing with one of the biggest names in Australian indie pop?
