Gold Coast-based indie musician, Saint Lane will hit the road for a four-date east-coast run in August celebrating his current single 'Toothbrush'.
After supporting the likes of Lime Cordiale, Earl Sweatshirt, Baker Boy and Dune Rats, Saint Lane will headline shows in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne."My new song is out and I'm going around the country to celebrate," beams Saint Lane.
The genesis for 'Toothbrush' occurred after an Uber ride inspired the New Zealand-born artist. "I was in an Uber, and the driver asked what I did for work, so I told him I was a songwriter," Saint Lane says.
"He then asked, 'What's the key to writing a good song?' to which I replied,'I guess you'd want the listener to resonate with the words to a degree, take them back to a time in their life maybe'.
"And he said: 'That's so crazy, because when my favourite rappers Young Stunners release a song, I think they are writing about me personally. I just relate to their music so much.'
"I asked him what has been happening in his life and he said he met his girlfriend in university before COVID and they signed a year lease together after only knowing each other for two months.
"When he moved in, he smoked a joint and his girlfriend freaked out and broke up with him saying she could never be with a 'drug addict' so now they just co-exist in the house until the lease is up.
"He dropped me off to the studio and I wrote a song about his situation."
