Run Run Run

Named after the Velvet Underground song, hypnotic Chinese pysch-rockers Run Run Run make their Australian live debut later this month.

With a swirling blend of lucid genres – from garage rock, post punk, indie folk and retro pop – and hailing from Guiyang (the capital of Guizhou province), the band will headline concerts in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne (x3 shows) and Bendigo.

Backed by a catalogue of albums released on seminal Chinese independent label Maybe Mars – home to bands such as Carsick Cars and Birdstriking – Run Run Run have also shared stages with the likes of Michael Rother (Neu!, Kraftwerk, Harmonia) and Gang Of Four.

"Audiences can expect some songs from our latest album and our EPs, and we're also going to play a few new tracks that haven't been recorded," shares the six piece.

"The set list will contain fuzzy psychedelic sound, Chinese retro pop and groovy dance tracks, presenting a table with various cuisines from our homeland. Hope you enjoy them!

"Additionally, there will be a special session on 30 Nov at Odeon Richmond [in Melbourne]. We've picked some old, slower instrumental tracks from previous album that never been played with our current line-up.

"For us, Australia is a land that we have never been to before. We are curious about how the audience there will feel about our music and what the local music scene looks like. Looking forward to playing gigs and hanging out with new friends!"

If you're a fan of Khruangbin and/ or Glass Beams, Run Run Run's unique flavour of retro pop will catch your ear's attention.

Tickets are on sale: Canberra; Sydney; Shotkickers Melbourne; Bendigo; Odeon Richmond Melbourne.
