Three stages, showcasing thirty sensational acts. Twelve hours of non-stop music, including legendary Aussie rockers, all for the low price of $20.
On 9th May, the Redcliffe Dolphins Leagues Club, north of Brisbane, will be the go-to destination for music fans as Club Shambles presents Rockin’ 4 The Homeless 2.0. Last year, the inaugural event raised $23,000 for local homelessness initiatives. The 2015 goal is to give $50, 000 to local projects The Breakfast Club and Chameleon House.
Rockin’ 4 The Homeless 2.0 was launched at Dolphins on February 18, with a host of musicians, politicians, and music lovers on hand to help fundraise, and to celebrate the third year of Club Shambles, a collective of local music industry types who have raised around $70,000 for flood victims and community initiatives since the club’s creation in 2013. The members of Club Shambles are quick to downplay their efforts, though. “It’s not about recognition,” says Dan Nebe, Artistic Director and Executive Producer of the event. “It’s all about the community. If we can inspire someone else in Sydney, or Bundaberg, or Melbourne, or Cairns to get together as a community and help a cause, then that’s all we want for it.”
Local boy and actor-turned-writer William McInnes (pictured left with Ros Thomsen and Julie Giffoyle) was quick to offer his support, stepping into the role of Patron of the event. “Life takes its toll. Events like this really do go to show that along life’s journey we can really make a lot of difference in a small way, and in a large way.”
Club Shambles is bringing its ‘A’ game, promising an event to remember. There will be three stages, with the front, lower level stage free to attend. Upstairs, though, $20 buys you the chance to see Aussie rock icons Mental As Anything, as well as a stellar line-up of performers including Phil Emmanuel and Counterfeit Umbrellas. If rock isn’t your taste, the third level of the club will play host to the acoustic stage; a well-deserved break from the parties below.
There are still sponsorship opportunities available, and rumours abound of wild card performance slots on offer for emerging musicians. Tickets are due for release online at the end of February, as well as in person at a range of stalls at the Redcliffe Markets, and at the door on the day.
