Acclaimed jazz pianist Robert Glasper returns to Australia in 2024.
The five-time Grammy Award-winner will headline concerts in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in August.An artist who also branches into R&B, hip hop, neo soul and fusion jazz, Glasper has also written and produced albums with Mac Miller, Anderson .Paak, Banks, Herbie Hancock, Denzel Curry, Q-Tip, and Talib Kweli plus many more.
Alongside his Grammy success, which also includes 12 nominations, Robert won an Emmy Award for his song for Ava Duvernay's documentary '13th' (with Common and Karriem Riggins), and a Peabody Award for his Composition of 'Mr. Soul!'.
A powerful voice for societal change as well, Glasper's 2022 album 'Black Radio 3' (featuring Killer Mike, H.E.R., Meshell Ndegeocello, Ty Dolla Sign and others) advocates for black love and the power, and responsibility we have to improve our world (it was awarded Best R&B Album at 2023 Grammys).
"Black lives matter and so does black love; no one wants a life without love, but we have generations of people in our community who haven't had the tools to actually be in healthy relationships," Robert says.
"It seems like people are finally ready to open their eyes to systemic racism in this country, and if we're going to talk about it, we have to also talk about how it affects our relationships – how we communicate, how we see ourselves, how we treat each other. It's not always good, even though maybe it could be."
