Brisbane likes to party!

Vengaboys took the crowd at The Fortitude Music Hall (9 February) on a nostalgic journey, transporting them back 25 years.

With the dance-pop group proving the power of nostalgia is still one of the most emotionally charged aspects of life, and that revisiting memories from our youth holds a special place in our hearts.

Electrifying the crowd as they burst onto the stage they brought their signature high-energy performance and playful spirit, decked out in their iconic, vibrant costumes.

Taking us on a journey through Brazil, Jamaica, and Ibiza, Vengaboys had the audience jumping and singing along to their classic hits, while also tapping into the beats of the era with tracks like 'We Will Rock You' and 'The Ketchup Song'.

The energy onstage was further heightened by the addition of glittering sparkle guns, balloons, and erupting confetti cannons.

Mastering the art of performance participation, they expertly led the audience in a wild sing-along session, with video production displaying every lyric for maximum participation. Despite a lack of dynamic choreography, the energy of the crowd more than made up for it, creating an unforgettable karaoke party atmosphere.

With a surprising turnout, fans from all walks of life flocked to relive the memories of the past, reigniting their inner fangirls and fanboys. The crowd was a diverse mix of ages, but what was most striking was the presence of a significant number of males.

As I talked to a father-son duo, their eyes lit up as they fondly recounted the memories of listening to Vengaboys, both reiterating their immense love and admiration for the iconic music group.

The standout of the night was an emotional tribute, featuring nostalgic footage from the early days of their career and highlighting their powerful impact on our emotions and memories. It was a poignant reminder of how far they've come and how their music has stood the test of time.

This heartfelt moment was met with thunderous applause and a sea of cheers, showcasing just how much the group and their music mean to their fans.

As the night came to a close, the ecstatic concert-goers could be seen spilling out of the venue clutching cherished souvenirs such as oversized balloons and unique Venga dollar bills, each eager to keep the memory of the celebration of the Vengaboys' music and legacy, which is a testament to their enduring popularity.

Vengaboys strong and passionate following is still present after 25 years.
