American singer-songwriter sensation Tinashe made her way down under and put on a phenomenal performance at Forum in Melbourne (7 January) for her 'Match My Freak' world tour, celebrating the new album 'Quantum Baby’.
Supporting Tinashe on her tour is our very own Becca Hatch.
Becca did a tremendous job pumping up the crowd before Tinashe arrived. At the beginning of Becca's set, DJ Nicole Tania began with a solo introduction before Hatch entered the stage, which was a great addition to the show and something setting it apart from many others this reviewer has seen.
The beginning of Tinashe’s show was truly a moment that would give anyone goosebumps waiting with anticipation for her to appear on stage. Beautifully aesthetic visuals were displayed on the screen, setting the audience in the moment of the 'Match My Freak' tour.
Tinashe’s set included some of her top hits, like '2 On', as well as some of her newest singles like 'Nasty'. The chosen songs on the setlist warmed up the crowd perfectly with her beautifully-sang vocals.
As a particular fan of the hit '2 On', it was very special to finally hear it live in a room full of other people who were excited to hear the song. And she, of course, knew that everyone in that theatre knew and loved that song – she made it feel like one of the more special moments of the night.
Something that stood out was how interactive she was toward the audience, sharing moments like signing a fan's poster from the pit and complimenting fans' outfits. These truly showcased that she is a genuine person behind the scenes.
Tinashe sang flawlessly, her voice so raw, her vocals perfect. Along with this, her choice of outfit was astonishing. It showcased her personality as well as her genre of work, with a colour scheme of red and silver.
As the night came to a close, Tinashe made sure that every person in the theatre would remember the show for a long time, giving it her all. She's an artist who brings so much energy through her singing and dancing skills – truly remarkable and talented.
