Oliver Tree's Brisbane gig at The Fortitude Music Hall (on the infamous Friday the 13th) was anything but a spooky night to remember.
This show marked the kickoff of the Australian leg of Tree's world tour, coinciding perfectly with the release of his latest album, 'Alone In A Crowd'. However, what made this night even more extraordinary was the introduction of a new character, Cornelius Cummings. This wasn't your average concert; it was a wild, unpredictable journey through Oliver's imaginative world, complete with fresh faces and familiar favourites.
Picture this: Oliver Tree rolls onto the stage on a darn couch, facing the opposite direction. Why, you ask? So he can check out the intro of the show on the big screen, of course! It's like going to the movies and finding out the lead actor is right there with you, but he's on his phone watching the same movie.
The filmed skit segments of the show created an almost movie-going experience for fans and added an element to the live show that I’ve never seen utilised before. Simply put, it was dope! Not only can the man produce music, but he can direct movies too. But wait, there's more!

Special guests? Heck yeah! Oliver brought out fan favourites – Supercomputer and Little Ricky ZR3 – to join the party. The Supercomputer Windows 98 duo hyped up the crowd for a 30-minute DJ set. Little Ricky made a detour on his way home to Mars, and made time for a vibing Bris Vegas crowd.
Now, let's talk fashion. Oliver didn't just do costume changes; he went full-on chameleon mode. For 'Alone In A Crowd', he introduced his new character Cornelius Commings wearing a pink, oversized jumpsuit that made him look like a human watermelon.
For 'Cowboy Tears', it was a blonde mullet and cowboy duds that would make a Texan proud. And for 'Ugly Is Beautiful', he rocked a pink and purple jacket, a bowl-cut haircut that would make your grandma proud, and red speed dealer sunnies that would make your mum concerned. This guy's fashion game is out of this world!

The set list was like a musical time machine, taking us through all of Oliver's albums. The crowd sang-along to every word like we were at a rowdy karaoke night with our best pals.
It was a nostalgic trip down memory lane that made us feel like we were all part of the Oliver Tree fan club. In a nutshell, Oliver Tree's 'Alone In Crowd' world tour is a must-see movie, musical, live performance.
If you ever get the chance to catch Oliver Tree live, grab your tickets faster than you can say "pink jumpsuit," because it's a party you won't want to miss.
