Lost Miracle

Back in the big outdoor space at North Fremantle's Port Beach Brewery, Lost Miracle with Sebastien Leger and Roy Rosenfeld was yet another stellar night of progressive and melodic house presented by the Above All Else team; they really know how to put on a party for the lovers of house music.

Saved from an oppressive Perth summer with a cool breeze flowing as evening descended, it was perfect for dancing (19 December).

Nico Giovanni B2B with Fifth Day expertly warmed up the already full dance floor. A perfectly timed drop of a remix of Groove Armada's 'My Friend' had the crowd primed for the main show.

Leger bounced onto the stage in his legendary cheetah print hoodie pulsating with urban-jungle vibes, Rosenfeld in lock step but with a more controlled energy (which was to be unleashed at a later stage).

The duo are a well-oiled machine, acting in unison, one hand on a cigarette, three hands on the mixer. With the Funktion-One system thumping, the duo treated the crowd to a true set of progressive house, layering melodies over smooth underlying bass, moments of driving bass, long teasing breakdowns and some funky house.

Even some bouncy-as-F Chicago house-like sounds with the flanger effect over the top brought whoops and whoos from the adoring crowd. There were many highlight moments through the three-plus-hour set.

Rosenfeld's own remix of Guy Gerber's 'Rainchecks In Montreal' and several of Leger's own productions and remixes including 'Blazing Ice'. I was too lost dancing in the moment, enjoying the atmosphere and company to do too much trainspotting.

As the set peaked, Roy busted out his signature hands in the air dance moves and the crowd was beaming with smiles as the night closed well after the official time.

Lost Miracle was a unique experience in the diversity and joy of music. Along with the community feel created by the AAE team, whether a veteran or a first timer you left uplifted and glowing on the inside.
