Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Griff returned to Sydney last night for a second time in just six months, a testament to her skyrocketing popularity and undeniable talent.

Her show at the iconic Enmore Theatre (15 August) was a vibrant celebration of her latest album, 'Vertigo', and it was clear from the outset the young pop sensation's appeal is only growing stronger.

From the moment Griff took the stage, her presence was magnetic. Dressed in a flowing white dress, she danced freely around the stage, connecting with fans by holding their hands and sharing the joy of the moment.

Her infectious energy and the way she interacted with her fans felt deeply authentic. It wasn't a performance where the audience was merely observing from a distance; instead, it felt like we were invited into her bedroom, bursting out singing heartfelt lyrics with a hairbrush as a makeshift microphone.

The singer-songwriter soon slowed it down with a stripped-back version of 'So Fast'. However, what made this moment truly special was how she stood in the middle of the crowd under a single spotlight surrounded by hundreds of people. Everyone stood quietly, sharing this intimate moment together, and of course, the phone lights came out decorating the crowd with sparkles.

For the "boyfriends who were forced to come along," Griff explained to the audience, her album 'Vertigo' explores how heartbreak can feel like emotional vertigo; that is disorientating and can make you feel as though you're losing part of yourself.

Griff's confidence to be vulnerable is admirable as she opens up about love, family issues and the challenge of growing up without positive examples of love – things that many of us navigate in life. It's this commitment to raw honesty that forges a deep connection with her fans. Her songwriting makes personal heartache feel universal and her voice – both delicate and powerful – carries the weight of the lyrics.

After this intimate moment with the crowd, the pace of the show changed as she built the beat back up and got people dancing. Despite a few technical difficulties, Griff powered on delivering a fun show with unwavering energy and charisma.

While technical issues might typically frustrate an audience, Griff's fans responded with cheers and chants of support whenever glitches occurred. It was testament to Griff and her fans who uphold values of positivity and inclusivity.

From stripped-back moments in the centre of the crowd, to dancing in swirling circles to pop beats, you are sure to be taken on a journey at a Griff show – you might even get to play Rock, Paper, Scissors with her as she did with a fan. Take it from me, as someone who was unfamiliar with her music, she still got me dancing and mesmerised by her voice.

Griff has proven herself as an artist who not only delivers on record, but also lights up the stage with her undeniable presence and emotional depth. Sydney, once again, had witnessed a night of unforgettable music that brought fun and emotional connection, and it's clear Griff's star is only set to shine brighter from here.

Griff will play a Melbourne concert tomorrow (17 August) to finish up her Australia tour.
