Spilt Milk music festival made a killer return to Gold Coast, this year turning Gold Coast Sports Precinct and Heritage Bank Stadium into a music lover's paradise (26 November).

It was like catching up with an old friend you hadn't seen in years: exciting, nostalgic, and full of surprises. With three massive stages, the line-up had to be huge. . . and it didn't disappoint!

Kicking things off were Chutney, the triple j Unearthed competition winners started the day on the right note. They got the crowd going, setting the stage for the epic day ahead.

It was the kind of kickstart you wish you had every Monday morning – lots of drums and plenty of energy.

The line-up was a smorgasbord of musical flavours, from Post Malone's head-bopping hits to Dom Dolla's infectious beats. Local Gold Coast indie-rock lords Peach Fur pumped some adrenaline into an action packed day.

Dermot Kennedy's soulful melodies had us swaying like we were at a slow dance in the middle of the living room, with the crowd sobbing happy tears and wiping them with their homemade signs.

Latto strutted onto the stage with a cane and brought out her A-team dance crew. The fresh-faced Ruel delighted fans with his Michael Jackson-esque dance moves and pop anthem tunes.

Lime Cordiale and Ocean Alley proved they deserve closing spots for next year's festival bringing the largest crowds of the day with the most sing-alongs.

MAY-A and The Buoys brought their A-game, proving there was no shortage of talent on either stage.

Post Malone's closing performance was the icing on the festival cake. Unlike tours in the past, Post introduced his set with a small symphony of violins, leaving the crowd in anticipation of the hip hop artist's arrival.

An explosion of fire in the darkness illuminated the crowd as he pronounced himself onstage. The Texas native's set felt like the grand finale of a fireworks show, complete with pyrotechnics that left us all looking like kids at a sparkler party.

And yes, 'shoeys' were a thing – a timeless Aussie tradition that made us all question our choices in footwear. Post questioned the crowd as to whether a Dunlop Volley or a Nike Jordan would be appropriate to scull a beer out of. A unanimous crowd vote of "VOLLEY!" was cheered on by all.

However, what truly made Spilt Milk 2023 special was the people. The sense of camaraderie was infectious, like being at a backyard BBQ with friends you hadn't seen in ages. It was a reminder that music has the power to bring strangers together and turn them into friends.

Spilt Milk Gold Coast 2023 was like a reunion with your favourite people – filled with music, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

With its diverse line-up, flawless execution, and the kind of fun that makes you forget your worries, the festival once again cemented its place on the 'must-do' list of Australian music festivals.

And if you ever spill your milk, just remember, you might be able to mop it up in time for next year's festival.
