Music lovers and vinyl aficionados listen up, Record Store Day (RSD) returns for a 15th year in 2022 with the annual celebration of independent record stores welcoming global icon Taylor Swift as its inaugural Global RSD Ambassador.

Staged internationally every April since 2008, crate diggers descend on their local record stores hunting for limited edition releases, while a plethora of instore performances and artist signings add to the magic of the day.

"I'm very proud to be this year's Ambassador for Record Store Day," Tay Tay says.

"The places where we go to browse and explore and discover music new and old have always been sacred to me.

"Record stores are so important because they help to perpetuate and foster music loving as a passion."

Taylor will mark the occasion with a special release as well.

"Going into its 15th year RSD just continues to get bigger and better," Blake Budak, co-owner Landspeed Records (Canberra) and President of Australian Music Retailers Association, says.

"Having one of the biggest artists in the world come on as global ambassador shows just how big the event has become."

Record Store Day 2022 takes place 23 April.
