Less than two weeks before opening its gates for the 18th time, Rainbow Serpent Festival organisers have announced the Australia Day weekend event has sold out for the second consecutive year.
Unlucky fans who missed out on tickets are advised that, unlike last year, there will be no ticket sales on the gate, says event director Tim Harvey.
Mr. Harvey said, “It was a tough decision to not leave any tickets allocated for gate sales but we want to look after the comfort and safety of our patrons.
“We feel confident most loyal fans have been aware for twelve months this was a possible scenario and planned accordingly by purchasing early.”
Mr. Harvey also said there has been a few cases of ticket fraud with sellers on eBay and Gumtree and advises people to be careful when purchasing from someone they don’t know.
“Please read the tickets FAQ on our website before purchasing any ticket to ensure you are buying a legitimate ticket and aren’t about to be scammed by dishonest cheats,” said Mr. Harvey.
Additionally, organisers are warning gatecrashers of the festival’s much tougher stance against people who try to gain entry without a valid ticket or wristband. An increased security presence will coordinate with police to focus on catching and charging trespassers while abandoned vehicles on surrounding roads will be towed.
