Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The folks at Rainbow Serpent Festival have revealed the first names to be featured in their 2014 line-up.

The 17th annual music and arts festival will be held over Australia Day weekend in January; among the international performers set to play before an estimated crowd of over 10,000 partygoers are German superstars Michael Mayer and Kularis, US bass heavyweight FreQ Nasty, Italy's Donato Dozzy, Swedish maestro Hux Flux, UK legends King Unique and Banco De Gaia.

Festival director Tim Harvey says this edition of Rainbow Serpent will continue the mission to deliver a diverse range of music from around the world.

"Part of our goal every year is to find outstanding, contemporary talent from a range of genres and countries," he said. "We're really excited because, as amazing as the currently announced acts are, they are only a hint of what is to come with some very big announcements on the horizon."

The festival will be held over four days from January 24 in Lexton, Victoria, and tickets will go on sale to the public in late July. It incorporates a wide range of performance and arts alongside its musical prgram, and a host of interesting talks on diverse topics.
