The winner of Triple J Unearthed's Indigenous Initiative in 2016, Mackay girl Tia Gostelow had an even bigger 2017, signing with labels Anti Fragile Records (outside Australia and New Zealand) and Native Tongue (worldwide publishing deal).
After dreaming of releasing music through her own independent label, Tia has made that a reality by creating her own record label Lovely Records.
"I've always known that when I started releasing music that I wanted to be as independent as possible for my first album release and have just been waiting to turn 18 to make it official," Tia says.
Tia has received a little help from the local music industry. "I'm really grateful for the support and guidance from my team and the incredible support from Arts Queensland and Australia Council for the Arts who have allowed me to fund the recording of my debut album and release it through Lovely Records."
Aside from releasing her own music, Tia also hopes to assist other, young musicians by signing other acts to Lovely Records.
"I'm excited for the future of Lovely Records and I hope that it might one day become a label that supports and nurtures other young emerging regional artists in the future."
