Queens Of The Stone Age Reunite With Nick Oliveri

Nick Oliveri
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Former Queens Of The Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri has reunited with his old bandmates during a gig in Portland.

Oliveri hadn't played with Queens in over a decade (congratulations, everybody, you're old), but one of his bands, Moistboyz, had the support slot for QOTSA last night. Frontman Josh Homme dedicated 'Better Living Through Chemistry' to Oliveri early in the set, before Oliveri eventually appeared on stage to sing 'You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar But I Feel Like A Millionaire'.

Oliveri was fired from QOTSA in 2004; in 2005, Josh Homme revealed that he fired the bassist because he was convinced he had become physically abusive to his (Oliveri's) girlfriend.

In 2011, Oliveri was sentenced to a three-year felony probation period with 200 hours of community service and one year of anger management after an altercation with his girlfriend let to a stand-off with police.
